State Outlook

Georgia has not previously introduced Insurance Fairness for Amputees Legislation. We are actively seeking advocates to lead the efforts to introduce and pass legislation in an upcoming session.

Legislative Information

The Georgia General Assembly works on a two year cycle and in 2019 will be in the first year of their cycle. The 2019 Legislative Session convenes January 14th and will tentatively conclude in early April. The Georgia General Assembly is able to prefile legislation for the upcoming session until January 11th, 2019.  The General Assembly does not have introduction deadlines.

Currently, the Republican Party controls both chambers of the State Legislature and the Office of the Governor.

In order to move Insurance Fairness for Amputees legislation through the legislative process, the Amputee Coalition needs the support of the limb loss community. We are actively seeking advocates and champions for Insurance Fairness for Amputees legislation.
