Connecticut has enacted Insurance Fairness for Amputees legislation.
Insurance Fairness History
The Connecticut General Assembly passed Insurance Fairness for Amputee legislation in 2018. Senate Bill 376 passed unanimously through both chambers of the legislature and was signed into law by Governor Dannel Malloy (D) on May 25th, 2018.
The Connecticut General Assembly works on a two year cycle and in 2019 will be in the first year of their cycle. The 2019 Legislative Session convenes January 9th and will tentatively conclude June 5th. The Connecticut General Assembly has not set an introduction deadline for the 2019 Legislative Session.
Currently, the Democratic Party controls both chambers of the State Legislature and the Office of the Governor.
In order to move forward with other legislative initiatives beyond Insurance Fairness, the Amputee Coalition needs the backing of the limb loss community. We are actively seeking advocates to support or advocacy efforts in Connecticut. If you are interested in joining the Amputees Coalition’s efforts in Connecticut please contact the Connecticut Amputee Network or us through Amplify. You can also contact your State Representation or the Connecticut Insurance Department to express your concern about issues affecting the limb loss community.
