Why I volunteer for the AC Please include your background (including whether you are a member of the limb loss/limb difference community), and why you volunteer for the AC. What does participation in SciMAC mean to you?

I work as a research occupational therapist at the Center for Bionic Medicine. My specialty areas include treatment of upper limb loss/difference, multiple limb loss/difference, and burn injury. I have been an occupational therapist for over 20 years. I am involved in research, training, and testing with both Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR) and non-TMR patients using conventional and experimental prosthetic components as well as conventional and advanced control schemes.
I was honored to be asked to be part of the Upper Limb Advisory Committee and the Scientific Medical Advisory Committee as working with individuals with upper limb loss/difference is my passion. I volunteer with Amputee Coalition because I feel it is very important that individuals with upper limb loss or difference receive the most accurate information and support available.
