DESCRIPTION
As you create your description, consider that most of our visitors are people with limb loss and their families and may not be familiar with you. Consider questions like what relevant specialties you offer and how they can benefit from working with you.
For more than 125 years, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital has restored hope and freedom through rehabilitation for children and adults who have experienced a disabling illness or injury. Mary Free Bed is a 167-bed nonprofit hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a continuum of care that extends across a network of more than 30 hospitals statewide. It’s one of the largest independent rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S.
Accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) for Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs and Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs, Mary Free Bed also is accredited for specialty programs in the areas of Amputation, Brain Injury, Cancer Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury and Stroke. Mary Free Bed’s Amputation Programs coordinate care with its network members to assist patients with limb loss at every stage of recovery, from pre-amputation consultations and post-operative care to acute rehabilitation, home-based services and long-term care by our on-site Orthotics & Prosthetics + Bionics department, which is accredited by the ABC (American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics). Our extensive specialty outpatient services include an amputee clinic, day rehabilitation, driver’s rehabilitation and one of the largest adaptive sports programs in the country. We also offer a peer mentor program and an amputee support group for people in the community. We have an exceptional rehabilitation team that specializes in restoring independence for patients with amputations or limb differences. Mary Free Bed also provides diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care for infants, children and teens with congenital and acquired limb differences. When it was established in 1946, the MFB Center for Limb Differences was the nation’s first to focus exclusively on the unique needs of young patients, and that pioneering work continues today. |
