A Publication of the Amputee Coalition of America
Awards for Publication Excellence
2007 Apex Awards:
inMotion Wins 2007APEX Award
The Amputee Coalition of America’s publication inMotion has received a 2007 APEX Award for Publication Excellence – this year in the category of Interviews & Personal Profiles.
The award specifically recognized associate editor Scott McNutt, then a staff writer, for his article “Relationships Rescued Him.” The article, published in the January/February 2007 issue of inMotion, profiled TIME Magazine senior correspondent Michael Weisskopf. After losing a hand in Iraq and spending time as a patient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Weisskopf chronicled his experiences in a book titled Blood Brothers: Among the Soldiers of Ward 57.
This makes the 10th APEX award inMotion has received over the past nine years for overall editorial excellence and writing in a variety of subcategories.
Communications Concepts, Inc., is the sponsor of the APEX awards. Judges included John De Lellis, Concepts editor and publisher, Christine Turner, contributing editor of Writing That Works: The Business Communications Report, Bill Londino, consulting editor of Writing That Works, and Carolyn Mulford, senior writer and editor of Writing That Works and senior evaluator for the Publication Evaluation Program.
inMotion was competing against “the most promising publications that professional communicators could enter,” according to Communications Concepts. The sponsors say that the entries get better every year, and selecting the winning entries was truly difficult this year.
Congratulations, inMotion, and congratulations, Scott!
