Youth Camp
The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) Youth Camp is a 4-day traditional summer camp experience for children ages 10-17 years who have lost arms and/or legs or who were born with limb differences. The camp is structured to offer challenging activities that build campers’ confidence regardless of skill level. A unique aspect of our program is that campers are not accompanied by their parents, which inspires campers to try new challenges, be independent, test themselves and build new friendships in a supportive, caring environment.
Advocacy Center
The ACA is the leading voice on a wide range of issues, actions and activities that impact people affected by limb loss. The Amputee Coalition is committed to ensuring fair insurance coverage, equal access to employment, appropriate and respectful access to public activities including travel and other important rights gained through political actions. The ACA works with many national coalitions as well as sustains a strong presence before the U.S. Congress and federal agencies on a wide range of issues impacting limb loss.
National Peer Network
Trained peers help new amputees jump-start their transition to a new life by sharing information, by serving as a model of success and by offering understanding and support. A peer network is a number of experienced, trained amputees linked through one or more organizations who provide emotional and informational support to new amputees and their families through personal visitation, by phone, e-mail, FAX and surface mail.
National Limb Loss Information Center
The ACA’s National Limb Loss Information Center (NLLIC), funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provides comprehensive resources for people with limb loss, as well as their families, friends, and the healthcare professionals involved in their lives. Your donation will help us expand the reach of the information center.
