Promoting Amputee Research

Scientific research plays an important role in improving the lives of those affected by limb loss. As the nation's leading advocacy organization for the limb loss community in the United States, the Amputee Coalition works to:

      • Assist researchers engaged in issues relevant to the limb loss community
      • Promote high-quality research on issues relevant to the limb loss community
      • Create research partnerships to ensure that amputee research addresses the needs of the amputee community.

Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago, in collaboration with practitioners at Scheck and Siress Orthotics and Prosthetics, are trying to understand how different socket suspension systems affect how much you use your prosthetic, your balance confidence and your locomotor capabilities.
