For more than 65 years, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM) has been helping people rebuild their lives after a serious injury or illness. We do this by delivering comprehensive rehabilitation services based on cutting-edge treatment techniques, innovative research and excellent, personalized medical care.

RIM has received CARF accreditation for our specialized programs in: Amputee Specialty Program (Inpatient); Spinal Cord System of Care (Inpatient & Outpatient); Brain Injury Specialty Program (Inpatient & Outpatient); Stroke Specialty Program (Inpatient); and Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs. In addition, RIM is one of only three rehab hospitals in the country to be designated as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence.

RIM’s comprehensive amputee program is fully equipped to help patients regain strength and learn the techniques they need to live actively and independently. RIM’s inpatient unit is staffed by a team of experts who have advanced training and experience in treating patients who have lost an upper or lower extremity as the result of disease, trauma or birth defect. Once a patient is discharged from our inpatient unit, care continues seamlessly as they transition to one of our many outpatient locations.

RIM’s Amputee Clinic is dedicated to treating people with amputations throughout their lifetime. Our comprehensive approach to care includes a team of specialists that work together to address the needs and maximize the goals of our patients. The clinic’s services include medical management, wound care, physical and occupational therapy, prosthetic fitting, and referrals to other specialized services as needed.

Patients have access to custom-made prosthetics, including electronic upper limbs, life-like cosmetically appealing prostheses and specialized limbs designed for specific sports or activities.

In addition to RIM’s 69-bed inpatient facility, the Institute also operate more than 30 outpatient sites located throughout southeast Michigan. Backed by experience, clinical expertise and a reputation for excellence, patients at RIM are given every opportunity to meet and exceed their goals.
