Living Informed 3 What does the theme of this issue — living informed — mean to you? To me, and to all of us here at the Coalition, it means that we want to identify and understand our own needs. We want to find quality information to connect us with the resources, care, and supports we need. And, we find community in sharing our experiences, suggestions, and successes with others. For many with limb loss or limb difference, living informed might mean making or receiving peer visits, calling the Limb Loss Resource Center, sharing tips on Facebook, attending a support group meeting, contacting an elected official to advocate for policy change, or learning something new from this publication. As we contemplate inMotion ’ s theme this issue, we also want to share a remembrance of our late colleague Bill Dupes. As many readers know, Bill worked in a variety of positions with us over the past 17 years — most recently serving as editor in chief of inMotion . Bill had a keen eye for the written word and was dedicated to empowering and motivating our community. He was one of a kind. The Coalition and Bill’s family have appreciated hearing from so many of you about the impact Bill’s work, compassion, and humor had on your life. We hope the legacy of Bill’s work remains an essential part of “living informed.” inMotion will continue its legacy as the premier publication serving the limb loss and limb difference community and will continue to highlight empowerment, support, and advocacy with a focus on the latest innovations, information, and anecdotes on how to live well and thrive with limb difference. As always, the Amputee Coalition welcomes your input to identify emerging trends and needs in our community. We’d like to hear from you about the ways you stay informed and how you best advocate for yourself — with health care, employers, government, and elsewhere. Tell us how you Live Informed.
