Finding Answers 19 by Jeremy Haines You may think advocating through AMPLIFY is simply personal advocacy to improve your situation, but it does even more. It allows the Coalition to see which insurance companies are creating the most challenges for the community. Your comments and concerns also show insurance companies that they may have internal issues that need to be assessed. The same can be said for legislators who may take notice and reach out about supporting Insurance Fairness for Amputees legislation. These instances advance broader results that better serve the limb loss community. Aside from using stories, the Amputee Coalition is dedicated to providing a solution by training advocates and giving them opportunities to engage in advocacy. In the coming year, the Coalition will be unveiling a Lead Advocate Program that will train and prepare individuals with limb loss to advocate and find solutions for issues affecting them at the state and federal levels. Our 5-year goal is to be actively engaged on advocacy issues in all 50 states, and we need your help to get there! If you’re interested in the Lead Advocate Program , or want to participate in the Amputee Coalition’s annual Hill Day in April, contact us at amplify@amputee-coalition.org . We hope you will join us as we continue to grow our advocacy efforts. We encourage you to work with the Amputee Coalition as you advocate for yourself to leverage that advocacy into an even larger impact to support the broader community. Each time you advocate for yourself and with the Amputee Coalition, you have the potential to be the catalyst for positive change. THE SOLUTIONS THAT RESULT FROM SELF-ADVOCACY
