The Amputee Coalition is pleased to announce 14 hospitals across the country have entered into new partnerships with the Coalition to better serve the limb loss and limb difference community. These hospital partnerships allow facilities to share Amputee Coalition programs that improve outcomes and enhance wrap-around services and supports. Current partners include:
- Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute in Little Rock, AR
- Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, FL
- Emory Rehabilitation Hospital in Atlanta, GA
- Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill, SC
- George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
- Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY
- MossRehab in Elkins Park, PA
- Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing in Wyomissing, PA
- Rehabilitation Center of Michigan in Detroit, MI
- Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD
- Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville, NJ
- University of Colorado Hospital (Limb Restoration) in Aurora, CO
- WakeMed Rehab in Raleigh, NC
- Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT
The Coalition is excited to continue growing its network of hospital partners. These partnerships provide additional expertise, training curriculum and patient education materials. They allow hospitals to easily integrate a highly successful peer support program into rehabilitation frameworks and helps facilities meet Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards for peer support for facilities with an amputation care designation. These partnerships proudly recognize that peer support is an effective intervention that improves outcomes for limb loss patients.
“We are excited to partner with these hospitals that share our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for amputees and their families and improving patient care,” said Mary Richards, President and CEO of the Amputee Coalition. “People who face an amputation can encounter physical and psychological challenges in their recovery. The journey to recovery begins in the hospital where the patient undergoes their surgery. With the ongoing expansion of our hospital partnership program, we can connect with more individuals affected by limb loss as they begin this journey.”
Earlier this year, the Amputee Coalition announced, as part of expanding its national network, that hospital memberships would no longer include a financial cost. These 14 hospitals include both facilities that have been historically associated with the Amputee Coalition and new partners.
There are more than 500 amputations performed daily in this country, most commonly conducted in the over 5,000 community rehabilitation hospitals and trauma centers in the United States. The Amputee Coalition offers specialized benefits to help our hospital partners, including free patient education materials, the opportunity to hold Certified Peer Visitor trainings, and generous discounts for hospital staff to attend Coalition events.

Together with our thousands of supporters, the Amputee Coalition is dedicated to ensuring that no one faces limb loss alone. We work to provide people with limb loss and limb difference, their families and caregivers the resources they need to recover, readjust and live life fully with limb loss/difference.
