Core Power: Exercises to Prevent Pain and Stay Moving

Living with limb loss/difference puts great demands on the body. These demands can result in back pain or cause mobility difficult. By strengthening your core, the muscles that make up your midsection, you can prevent back pain and improve your mobility. This class is a simple way to learn about core stabilization, guided by a physical therapist.

Track – Limb loss is not uncommon and is becoming less uncommon every day

  • What are the functional differences between the various myoelectric hands and hooks?
    There are several different types of myoelectric hands and hooks that have become commercially available and each one has marketing claims that can leave the consumer/end user confused. This course will identify and demonstrate the functional benefits of each terminal device to assist with decisions on the right device.

  • Individualized training with augmented reality and real-time feedback
    A scientific project aimed at improving the quality of movement of leg amputees will be presented. An augmented reality solution that provides real-time feedback on muscle electric activity and respiration during deep core muscle exercises. A prototype, as well as the findings of several studies, will be presented.

    With OPRA receiving FDA approval earlier this year, and advancements in osseointegration that make the procedure becoming more accessible in the United States, learn more from the leaders in osseointegration about the current state of osseointegration and the different methods and solutions available for patients, including individual experience.
