25 Years Without a Right Arm and Going Strong.

Hello to my fellow amputees and the people who support them.
I lost my right arm above the elbow 25 years ago this July in a boating accident. Prior to the accident I was a machinist, an avid martial artist, weight lifter and a softball player. My daughter was 2 at the time. I was 29.

It is a change of lifestyle, but with a little patience you will not only adapt, you will excel in life.

I went back to my job and became #1 again and after a while I elected to go back to school. I did that for four years then opened my own business hydroseeding. After a divorce I elected to finish school and became a 911 Dispatcher. Yes, with one arm. Google Dvorak Keyboards and you will see how. That job transitioned into dispatcher for the state, and I’ve been doing that since 2004.

In my spare time I restore and customize classic cars. I’ve raved Quads, do all my own home repair and rock climbed although I’m getting a bit old for some of that now.
I’d also divorced since my accident but not because of it. I was worried I’d never find anyone willing to date an amputee and I was very wrong. I’ve dated some wonderful ladies since my divorce.

I hope that my story will teach you that you are in control of how your amputation affects you! Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t do.
