Register/Update Your Support Group

Please note that registered support groups are not managed directly by the Amputee Coalition. As more support groups are switching to virtual meetings, or meetings are being canceled, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we highly encourage you to contact the support group prior to coming to a meeting as days/times/format may change.

The Amputee Coalition is hosting weekly online support groups on Thursday evenings, and we want you to be part of them. These meetings are led by volunteer Support Group Leaders from the Amputee Coalition’s Support Group Network. Click here to learn more and register to join us.

Tricord Club

November 6, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Tricord Club is a nonprofit organization that helps children and youth with physical mobility issues grow up to be confident, resilient, independent, and contributing members of society who have intimate ongoing relationships with their peers, the community, and God.  Children with amputations, missing limbs, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, dislocated hips, club feet, polio, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and achondroplasia (little people) are invited to join the club at http://www.Tricord.Club. We have an equal number of seven to eight year olds with and without disabilities.

Two Saturdays a month from 2:00-4:00 pm we have two hour meetings at Parkway Presbyterian Church, 6200 Camphor Street in Metairie, LA. We use COVID-19 guidelines.  Meetings include four components:

  1. a speaker or activity to expose participants to a wide variety of interests, conversational topics, skills, potential hobbies, leisure activities, vocations, community resources, and networking opportunities
  2. exploration of and provision of service to others
  3. a nondenominational Bible study
  4. pleasant carefree leisure

As club participants mature benefit by:

  • discovering their talents and developing a legacy of giving back
  • gaining experience in mentoring, leadership, service
  • improving integration into the community
  • and building resumes
