ACA Special Enrollment Opens Today; Why it Matters to our Community

Web Administration News

The Affordable Care Act Special Enrollment Period has been extended to August 15.

Today, healthcare.gov re-opens for the next three months. This special enrollment period allows you to sign up for affordable, high-quality health insurance – especially if you have lost your job and insurance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Amputee Coalition worked closely with others in Washington, D.C. to encourage President Biden to allow Americans to sign up for health insurance outside of the regular annual enrollment period. We are pleased to see his administration has done so.

We are here to serve the limb loss and limb difference community, and this was a need we know many Americans have. Having insurance gives you and others living with limb loss and limb difference access to the preventive, recovery, rehabilitative, or prosthetic care you need to stay healthy. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity now because it is one of the few times during the year that you can sign up for insurance.

Our National Limb Loss Resource Center (NLLRC) has developed a very informative fact sheet on the ACA to help you navigate this process and answer some questions you may have. You can find it here or by contacting an NLLRC specialist by calling 888-267-5669, ext. 1. They can also provide you with updated information regarding the Special Enrollment Period.

Additionally, please continue monitoring our social media channels and website from now until the end of the special enrollment period as we will be sharing helpful resources and reminders.
