In addition to a 94 bed inpatient hospital, JRI treats thousands of children and adults each year on an outpatient and short-term basis. Outpatient rehabilitation programs are provided in Edison and at our facilities in Metuchen and Monroe. We also provide a variety of consulting, treatment, education, and advocacy for local companies, professionals and schools.

The facility is also accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in the areas of Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation (Adult) and Employment Services: Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation Services. JRI is also licensed by the state of New Jersey as a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Hospital.
As an affiliate of JFK Health, JRI offers patients access to acute hospital services, emergency care, subacute and long-term care facilities, maternity care and pediatric services. JRI also enjoys a close working relationship with the Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center.
The JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute has an innovative, comprehensive Amputee Rehabilitation Program which includes early postsurgical evaluation and care for patients with a recent amputation, as well as lifetime management for people with amputation and all their prosthetic and rehabilitation needs. The patient is evaluated by a highly specialized and experienced prosthetic team including a physiatrist, physical therapist, and prosthetist. A comprehensive treatment plan is developed which may include a detailed prosthetic prescription, specialized prosthetic training programs, psychological adjustment to limb loss, pain management, and wound care. All of these services can be provided within our facility for ease of access and superior quality of care. State of the art prosthetic limbs are custom designed for each individual’s needs.
The partnership between the Amputee Coalition and JFK Rehabilitation Institute does not include peer support programming at this time.
