Thanks to our members, people living with limb loss or limb difference are no longer relegated to trial and error when they face an obstacle. Advice and support are readily accessible, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The simple act of posting a photo created a ripple effect within the community. We were flooded with emails from new amputees who enjoyed and found comfort in the photos that were being posted. Requests for peer visits skyrocketed in the month of April, helping us promote our message that no amputee needs to feel alone. Because of the participation of Kristen Pedronan Samantha Noah our members, those new to limb loss were able to connect and witness that life after an amputation can be active and fulfilling. Several individuals took the challenge to heart, exposing their prosthesis to neighbors and coworkers for the first time. Feeling empowered by the realization that they are part of a larger community, these members were finally comfortable with embracing their limb loss. Reading the posts from these participants was both inspiring and heartwarming.
