Ways to Give: Plan an Event

Holding a fundraising event is one of many ways to support the Amputee Coalition of America’s outreach, education and advocacy efforts. If you would like to plan a fundraising event to benefit the Amputee Coalition, please review the Event Guidelines and submit a Request Form for Sponsoring a Fundraising Event.

To help make your event a success, the Amputee Coalition can:

  • Provide event-planning tools, such as event vendor lists and checklists, and general advice on a limited basis
  • Review your promotional materials and, if appropriate, approve the use of and provide the Amputee Coalition’s logo or the logo for the specific program that the event will benefit
  • Assist in directing contributions to a specific area of interest, such as activities, educational materials, equipment, or an outreach program that has special meaning to you
  • Promote the event on the Amputee Coalition’s Web site and other event calendar listings, as appropriate
  • Provide a written tax receipt to donors who make their checks payable to the Amputee Coalition of America or donate via credit card on the Amputee Coalition Web site. In order to have the most accurate information on the receipt, we require all relevant information regarding the value of goods and services donors received in exchange for their contribution.

For legal and other reasons, the Amputee Coalition cannot perform the following activities or functions for events we do not directly sponsor:

  • Extend our tax exemption
  • Issue receipts for donations not made directly to the Amputee Coalition of America
  • Provide insurance coverage or secure permits
  • Provide mailing lists of donors, healthcare providers, employees or volunteers
  • Provide Amputee Coalition letterhead
  • Provide on-site staff or volunteers to work at the event
  • Provide banking, funding or reimbursement of expenses
  • Solicit sponsorship revenue for your fundraising activities
  • Provide publicity (newspaper, radio, TV coverage, etc.)
  • Distribute promotional materials throughout the Amputee Coalition
  • Guarantee attendance of Amputee Coalition staff, leadership or volunteers at the event
  • Provide auction services or systems
