National Limb Loss Information Center (NLLIC)
The Amputee Coalition
of America maintains the
nation’s most comprehensive
source of information
for people living with limb
loss, the National Limb Loss Information
Center (NLLIC). Each year, thousands
of people seek information from the
NLLIC’s knowledgeable and compassionate
information specialists, who respond to
their calls and e-mail and find the answers
they need. The NLLIC’s services are made
possible through ACA ’s cooperative agreement
with the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC).
As the nation’s leading resource for
information and support, the NLLIC is
committed to educating people with limb
loss, those at risk for amputation, and their
medical teams. The information staff is
often the first to answer questions from
those at risk for an amputation and to
assist new amputees with adjustment to
limb loss. They provide information about
technology and prosthetic devices, funding
and agency resources, relationships and
parenting, educational and vocational
issues, sports, recreation and travel,
statistics and research, health and disability
groups, rehabilitative and prosthetic
services, state and federal agencies,
consumer rights and peer support.
The NLLIC’s wealth of information can
be accessed in many ways:
