Children with limb loss/difference and their families now have a special education track at the ACA Annual Conference!

 

Family at ConferenceThis track has been developed through a partnership of the ACA and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Young amputees and their siblings may participate in various educational and fun clinics and activities while parents and caregivers have the option of attending parenting sessions.

These sessions will be offered Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, and families are also welcome to participate in the full conference sessions, events and activities.

Youth Sessions

  • Why Am I Different? – An Interactive Discussion for Kids
  • Possibilities – Sports, Fitness and Recreation Organizations for Young Amputees
  • Youth Amputee Mobility Clinic – for young amputees and their siblings.
  • Learn from Paralympians how to improve your walking, running and even volleyball skills!

Group LearningParent Sessions

  • Understanding Pediatric Amputation
  • Accommodating Growth in Young Amputees
  • Advocating for Your Child
  • Growing Up – What to Expect
  • How Can I Stop the Hurt?
  • Adoption Forum

You’ll also have many more opportunities to learn, network and gain support from other families!

There are a limited number of rooms available at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, and you may also book your room online. Book by May 19 and receive the conference rate of $125 per night!
