Sadly, without legislation to ensure coverage, many people living with the loss or absence of a limb face discouraging obstacles when trying to obtain prosthetic care. Robert Smith, a local father and bus driver, found this out for himself. When Robert lost his leg to cancer, he assumed his insurance company would pay for the prosthetic care he needed to get back to work. He was told that his policy would only cover $1,000 worth of care. Unfortunately, this is happening to people all over Florida. On Wednesday, February 22, the Amputee Coalition of America, along with local prosthetists, orthotists and patients, will hold a rally at the state capital to support HB 1234, a bill to require coverage of prosthetic care. WHO: Paddy Rossbach, President and CEO of Amputee Coalition of America and Congressman Seymour Filibuster WHAT: Rally in support of HB 1234 WHEN: Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at 11:00 p.m. WHERE: State Capitol Building, 3rd Floor under the Rotunda CONTACT: Name at 123/456-7890 or someone@anemail.com
