State Prosthetic Parity Campaign: A00770 has been introduced by Representative Gunther and has been referred to the Insurance Committee. We are pushing for a vote soon in the Insurance Committee!
We have been working for several years to successfully advance legislation in New York. In 2007, the bill was referred to a newly created government commission to undergo a cost analysis. We are still awaiting the results. We are also working to develop legislative and alternative strategies to support these efforts. The hurdles we have faced in NY are further proof of the critical need for a strong congressional campaign!
Other Advocacy Issues: While parity is a big priority for the ACA’s advocacy team, we have recently been involved in a number of issues advocating on behalf of people with limb loss and limb difference. The ACA is also working hard to pass federal parity legislation in order to extend protections for health plans regulated by Congress (about half of all policies). Get informed by visiting our federal parity page.
