State Prosthetic Parity Campaign:  Representative Lesia Liss has introduced HB 4007 (4009)  in the 2009 session!  We are now pushing to get the committee to vote on the bill, but we need your help!  Please contact your local Representatives, click here and urge them to support HB 4007 and 4009.

 

About the bill:

It is a bill to requiring non-profit health service plans to cover prostheses.  The second half of the bill (HB 4009) will require coverage for other private insurance companies.  Both bills are currently awaiting action.  We have not yet introduced a bill in the Michigan Senate, so we need your help to contact your local Senator here and urge them to introduce legislation that can run with HB 4007 and 4009!

Other Advocacy Issues:  While parity is a big priority for the ACA’s advocacy team, we have recently been involved in a number of issues advocating on behalf of people with limb loss and limb difference.  Is there a bill or issue in your state that we need to know about?  Contact us at state@amputee-coalition.org. 

 

The ACA is also working hard to pass federal parity legislation in order to extend protections for health plans regulated by Congress (about half of all policies).  Get informed by visiting our federal parity page.
