We Need You to Help ACA Find a New President and CEO!

Home

Though the ACA’s mission is “To reach out to people with limb loss and to empower them through education, support and advocacy,” we cannot accomplish this goal alone. To succeed, we need the help of our many friends and supporters. This time, we invite you to help us in a unique and special way.

Our longtime and respected leader, Paddy Rossbach, has announced her desire to move to a different role with the ACA. Though she will continue to be very involved with the ACA and those with limb loss, she would like to step aside from her demanding and travel-intensive role as president and chief executive officer (CEO). Thus, we need to recruit someone new to fill this critical role in the organization.

We are being assisted by an executive search firm that has helped many other nonprofit organizations find new CEOs. However, as our recruiter has correctly observed, “What better place to look for a new president and CEO than among those who care most for the ACA and its mission?” We would, therefore, like to ask your help in identifying individuals who may have an interest in this position.

To help us fulfill the ACA’s mission, we need someone who fits the following profile:

  • Has demonstrated success as CEO of a similar nonprofit organization, preferably healthcare-related, or a for-profit organization. Experience as a chief operating officer (COO) in a much larger organization may be acceptable. The organization should be nationwide in scope with a broad membership base and effective outreach and advocacy programs.
  • Has experience dealing with public-health issues.
  • Has demonstrated success in state and federal lobbying programs.
  • Has demonstrated success in building an organization’s membership base.
  • Has a track record of sound business management, including strategy development and financial and administrative management. This experience could have been acquired in a corporate environment.
  • Has demonstrated success in working with nonprofit boards and volunteers.
  • Must be an effective and persuasive communicator, both written and oral.
  • Must be an effective leader of staff members and volunteers.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively.
  • Must live near a major airport with convenient service to Knoxville, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C.
  • Must have a strong commitment to the ACA mission. Personal experience with limb loss is not essential, but, at a minimum, the successful candidate must have a strong connection with limb loss or another serious and long-lasting medical condition, perhaps with a family member or close friend.

As you can see, we are looking for a very special person! If you know someone who might be a prospect or who can lead us to any prospects, please help us by contacting our executive recruiter or referring others to him directly:
