SAMPLE PHONE MESSAGE:  Hello.  My name is ____. I reside in ____ (city).  I am calling to urge Senator ____ to support Senate Bill 645.  This bill will make sure prosthetic care is available to amputees.  This helps individuals and saves the state money.  I am asking the senator to please support Senate Bill 645 when it comes before the full Senate.

SAMPLE LETTER

Dear Senator ____,

I am writing in regards to Senate Bill 645. After extensive review, this bill was approved by the Special Commission on Mandated Health Insurance Benefits in December of 2007. The commission recognized that this bill is smart policy for the state of Virginia.

SB 645 offers the opportunity to save money in both the public and private sector by providing appropriate care for amputees. This allows individuals to remain employed, productive members of society. It also avoids the complications that result when someone is forced into a wheelchair or onto crutches for an extended period of time.

According to the Bureau of Insurance, the impact on monthly premiums would be less than $0.25 per month. Additionally, there is no fiscal implication to the state. This is not only common sense, but also the right thing to do.

This bill will make certain that insured, working people can continue supporting their families. As a northern Virginian, I am asking you to please support this bill when it comes before the full Senate.

Sincerely,

NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE
