The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is sponsoring a juried art exhibition, eMotion Pictures: An Exhibition of Orthopaedics in Art.  There is no entry fee, and the exhibition is open to anyone

who has or has had an orthopaedic condition including, but not limited to:

·        Amputation

·        Arthritis

·        Osteoporosis

·        Carpal tunnel syndrome

·        Scoliosis

·        Cerebral palsy

·        Joint replacement

·        Broken bones.

 

An online entry form must be completed and submitted by October 15, 2006, to www.aaos.org/emotion 

Selected artwork will be displayed at the Academy’s 2008 annual meeting in San Francisco.  Artwork may also

be featured in the Academy’s 75th anniversary traveling exhibit and Web site.  A $2,500 Best of Show award

will be presented, as well as additional awards as determined by the judges.

 

Artists may submit up to 10 works of art in the following media:

·        Painting and drawings

·        Fine art prints

·        Photography

·        Cyber art

·        Crafts

·        Mosaics

·        Graphics

·        Sculpture

·        Ceramics

·        Glass

·        Textiles

·        Functional art and other mixed media, such as poetry and music.

 

The artwork must illustrate one or both of the following:

·        Some aspect of the artist’s feeling toward or relationship with an orthopaedic condition (healing,

rehabilitation, anger, self-image, mobility, frustration, strength, hope, wellness, pain, etc.).

·        The history of orthopaedics (then and now, how treatment options have changed, services, care procedures,

how a condition affected several generations of your family, etc.).
