The Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund, Inc. (OPAF) is pleased to announce they are hosting two “First” clinics in the Chicagoland area this month.  On Friday, May 19, OPAF will cohost a First Swing/Learn to Golf clinic at Addison Links and Tees facility from 1:30-4:30 PM.  First Swing is an adaptive golf program for the disabled to learn or re-learn the game of golf- not only because just about every physically challenged individual is able to play, but also because it contributes dramatically to the individual’s emotional and physical well-being, instilling self-confidence and pride in personal achievement.  There is NO CHARGE to disabled participants, but pre-registration is required.   Bring along your clubs, if you have them, and a desire to play golf!

On Saturday, May 20, the Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund, Inc. (OPAF) will host the inaugural Chicago-land First VolleyTM clinic from 11 AM to 2 PM at Addison Park District’s Centennial Park tennis courts.  First Volley is adaptive tennis for ambulatory players.  This isn’t your typical wheelchair tennis clinic!    Many amputees who were once active may not have played tennis since becoming an amputee and feel frustration that tennis is no longer an option.  Many orthosis wearers share this feeling as well.  Different techniques would be necessary to return to the tennis court and where can you find someone skilled in teaching amputees and orthosis wearers to play tennis?  If you’ve dreamed of playing tennis, First Volley is for you!

Again there is NO CHARGE for First Volley, but space is limited and we ask everyone to pre-register.
