, April 6, 2009 - The Amputee Coalition of America is proud to recognize the longstanding commitment and support of Ohio Willow Wood (OWW), which became a Bronze Sponsor in 2009. The Bronze Sponsorship represents a financial commitment of $10,000 to the Amputee Coalition of America.
“We are very pleased that Ohio Willow Wood supports the Amputee Coalition’s mission with a sponsorship,” said Kendra Calhoun, Amputee Coalition president and CEO. “Every dollar helps us reach out to and support even more of the nearly 2 million people with limb loss in the United States.”
Ohio Willow Wood is also excited about the opportunity to help the Amputee Coalition Youth Camp – so much so that the company decided to also provide a gift of $11,000 to specifically support the camp. In its continuing commitment to children with limb loss, this year, OWW will be one of the leading Amputee Coalition Youth Camp donors.
Ohio Willow Wood and the Amputee Coalition have been strong partners in helping amputees since 1997. Bob Arbogast, Ohio Willow Wood president and CEO, signed the first sponsorship agreement between OWW and the Amputee Coalition in September 1997, as a Tier 1 Sponsor, which was the highest sponsorship level at that time.
With recent exciting growth surrounding the Amputee Coalition Youth Camp, OWW felt that it was an obvious choice for the company to also support the camp. In 2008, the company sponsored the counselor training and a few camp sessions, as well as a camper Carnival Night. For this, OWW sent its own staff to help with the event. It also sent one of its staff members, an amputee, to the camp as a first-time counselor. This year, OWW is sponsoring Camp Idol, a fun talent show for the campers, as well as the counselor training.
“All our camp sponsorship experiences have been great!” said Lisa Watkins, OWW’s communications coordinator. “When you see the impact the camp has on the youths, it is just amazing.”
Ohio Willow Wood was founded in 1907 and is located in Mt. Sterling, Ohio, with offices in Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands. For more information about its products and services, please visit www.owwco.com
