SAMPLE PHONE MESSAGE: Hello.  My name is ____.  I reside in ____.  I am calling regarding LB 969, a bill requiring parity for insurance coverage of prosthetic devices.  This is an important bill for amputees in Nebraska.  I urge Senator ____ to support LB 969 when it comes before the Banking, Commerce & Insurance Committee.

SAMPLE LETTER

Dear Senator ____,

I am writing in regards to LB 969.  This legislation is smart policy for the state of Nebraska.  LB 969 offers the opportunity to save money in both the public and private sector by providing appropriate care for amputees. This enables individuals to remain employed, productive members of society. It also avoids the complications that result when someone is forced into a wheelchair or onto crutches for an extended period of time.

Several reports have been done on the cost of prosthetic parity bills.  They have found that hte impact on monthly premiums would be very low --- between $0.12 and $0.25 per month. Additionally, there would be a savings in both the private and public sectors as a result of provision.  This is not only common sense, but also the right thing to do.

This bill will make certain that insured, working people can continue supporting their families.  I am urging you to please support this bill when it comes before the Banking, Commerce & Insurance Committee.

Sincerely,

NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE
