November 2009 celebrates National Family Caregivers Month, a time to thank, support, educate and empower family caregivers – those individuals providing care to loved ones living with chronic illness, disability or the frailties of old age. On November 12 from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. EST, the National Family Caregivers Association is hosting a free program for anyone caring for a loved one who is taking multiple medications. The program is called Safe & Sound: How to Prevent Medication Mishaps. This free program can be listened to by phone or online and will improve family caregivers’ understanding of their loved ones’ medication issues. For information and registration, call 800/896-3650 or visit thefamilycaregiver.org.
