CONNECTICUT: Keep up the fight!
The Connecticut General Assembly officially adjourns on May 7th, but the fight is not over!

Home

The Connecticut General Assembly officially adjourns on May 7th.  Unfortunately, the final days of this session we were forced to pull the prosthetic parity bill from consideration due to amendments.  The final version of the bill that was being discussed as a compromise included financial caps and an exemption for microprocessor devices. .

In the end we must remain committed to meeting the goal of access to prosthetic care.  We do not want to support a bill that would put limitations and restrictions into law.

There is still a lot of hope in Connecticut!  We have a great team of activists and a very committed sponsor, Rep. John Geragosian.  We will take this fight to the General Assembly again next year.

As you know, we are also pushing for a parity bill in Congress.  This would help amputees in every state, so we need your help to keep this bill moving!

What can I do to protect access to prosthetic care for amputees in Connecticut?

1)      Sign our online petition in support of the federal Prosthetic Parity Act (HR 5615).

2)      Send the link to your friends & family!  Ask them to sign on in support (http://www.amputee-coalition.org/advocacy/petition/).

3)      Donate to the national parity campaign!  Help us keep the momentum going in CT and across the country (http://www.amputee-coalition.org/advocacy/donation).

4)      Contact your member of Congress!  They need to hear from you.  Click here (http://www.amputee-coalition.org/advocacy/take-action.html) for a sample letter and contact information.

Three states have already stepped up and passed a parity law this year.  Ten states now have laws on the books.  And almost thirty states are working to advance a bill.

We will continue to do everything we can to fight for the rights of amputees!  With your help, we will continue to be successful.
