ADVOCACY UPDATE: ACA Expands Advocacy Department
There are many exciting things on the horizon for the ACA's advocacy department including a federal bill and a new staff person!

Home

To help make our federal campaign a success, we just hired a new staff person!  The Amputee Coalition of America just filled the position of Federal Campaign Field Organizer. The Field Organizer will work with our local volunteers and members to support the federal campaign through grassroots outreach and organizing initiatives.

We are also looking to bring in an intern this fall.  We have an exciting opportunity for a bright individual to work on a national campaign in a diverse and laid back office. This is the ideal internship for those that seek work experience in public policy, national campaigns, public relations/media communications and general non-profit management.

In 2006, the ACA launched a national campaign focused on healthcare legislation. As part of the campaign, we opened a second office in downtown Washington, D.C focused on advocacy and legislation. Currently, we have an opportunity for a hard working individual.

The ACA’s advocacy department is expanding and this is a great opportunity to join our exciting Advocacy Internship program. We have experienced great success with the passage of seven parity bills. An additional twenty-eight states are working to advance legislation. In addition, we are launching a federal bill in 2008. The Washington, D.C. office has a thriving volunteer program and we host 3 annual special events. The intern will work with the Advocacy staff to assist with the annual fundraiser.
