With deep sorrow, the Amputee Coalition of America announces the death of Nancy Carroll, ACA editor and publications manager, on December 16, following a short illness. A seven-year employee of the ACA, Nancy garnered numerous APEX Awards for inMotion and First Step. ACA President & CEO Paddy Rossbach reminisced, “Nancy will be tremendously missed in so many ways: her sense of humor, her throaty laugh that was so infectious, her sense of drama. But, above all, we will miss her ability to turn a story into a picture, to turn our attempts at writing into readable prose, and to take all of ACA’s publications to new heights every year.” Nancy is survived by her daughter, Karen Kelsch of New York; son, Arthur Kelsch of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law; grandson; and numerous friends, colleagues and relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the ACA’s Nancy Carroll Memorial Fund, which will benefit the ACA Youth Activities Program, or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (800/722-9474). During this time of transition, anyone with publications-related questions should direct them to Patricia Isenberg, ACA chief operating officer, at pisenberg@amputee-coalition.org.
