The Amputee Coalition of America is proud to announce the appointment of Shara Roe as special events and outreach assistant, focusing on the ACA Annual Conference & Exposition. Working with the nonprofit industry has proven to be an extremely rewarding career choice for Roe. Her talent for organizing educational and fundraising events to benefit those in need has given her a purpose in both her professional and personal lives. Roe started working in the nonprofit industry in 1997 at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas, while attending Wichita State University. Serving her community through special events, catering and many other guest services paved her way to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from WSU. After graduating in 2001, Roe moved on to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Wichita, Kansas, where she served as their development coordinator for south-central and western Kansas, her primary responsibility being fundraising for education and research. Roe moved to Kingston, Tennessee, in October 2004, with the goal of finding a nonprofit group in which to plant her feet. Roe also volunteers for the Eskimo Escapades Board for the Patricia Neal Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of East Tennessee.
